Karl Ward Financial Adviser

I started in Financial Services in 1989 with Royal London in Bournemouth, as an agent and was promoted to Sales Manager in 1995 moving to live in Jersey, looking after clients in the Channel Islands. I moved back to the UK in 2001 where I took up the role of senior financial adviser with Halifax plc covering branches in Winton, Weymouth and Dorchester. I then decided to set up my own business in 2012 leaving Halifax and working with Positive Solutions.

I’m married to Pauline and we enjoy our spare time relaxing on holiday in the sunshine, whenever we can fit it in. We’ve been lucky to travel to some exciting destinations, but there’s still many more to see and do.

My passion is football (West Ham for my sins!) and American Football NFL, where I follow the Miami Dolphins.

I believe that getting professional financial advice is one of the best ways for individuals to look after themselves, their families and their futures.

My role as a financial adviser is to help you to meet your financial goals, ensuring that the advice I give you is tailored specifically for your needs. I’ll work with you to understand your current position, and then to create short, medium and long-term strategies to protect and grow your money.

My aim is to offer you a thoroughly professional, highly individual service that puts you in a more advantageous financial position, both now and in the future. Quite simply, I want to make sure you have the greatest amount of wealth available to you, when you need it most.

Lorraine Hamlyn Paraplanner

Lorraine started in Financial Services in 1994 with Norwich Union, as sales support and progressed to sales support manager. She managed a team of 6 and they dealt with all new business and existing business queries from Financial Advisers in the South West. She left Norwich Union in 2006, and joined Positive Solutions as a T&C Supervisor supporting Financial Advisers and doing annual reviews. Whilst at Positive Solutions she saw a gap in the market for paraplanners, so decided to set up her own paraplanning business in 2007. As a paraplanner, her ultimate goal is to is to free up as much of the Financial Adviser’s time as possible so they can focus on what they do best, which is sitting in front of clients, giving advice. She writes suitability reports, collates product and provider information, completes illustrations and works with Advisers to ensure the highest compliance and organisational standards are adhered to.

She is married to Mark and have one son Rhys. She enjoys travelling, watching her beloved Manchester United, socialising and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys helping others and when Covid hit in 2020, she became an NHS volunteer where she did shopping (and still do) for the extremely vulnerable. This gave her great satisfaction especially as she was the only person some of them saw each week.

She believes that paraplanning is a vital service, as it means Financial Advisers have more quality time to spend with their clients, helping them to achieve their financial goals. She thoroughly enjoy her job and feels the personal service she offers has helped build excellent relationships with Advisers and they trust her to deliver quality documentation for use with their clients.

Robert Davies Non-Advising Support

Robert began his career with Prudential Assurance in 1965 and after 20 years became an independent  financial adviser firstly with Read Insurance in Wimborne and then joined Walter Montague at Wimborne Insurance Brokers in Church Street, specialising in pensions and investments.

After 15 years building up a substantial connection locally with both private and commercial clients, the business was sold and he moved firms to join Gerry Rickman at Ziegler Rickman in Ringwood. Ziegler Rickman operated under the regulation umbrella provided by the Skandia Group, which became Old Mutual after Skandia was taken over by this substantial South African conglomerate.'

He moved to Positive Solutions back in 2005.

He no longer provides financial advice and is taking life a little easier these days, but still involved in an administrative/support role within the organisation. However, he always loves to hear from past clients.

His hobbies include keeping fit, gym and swimming, but can no longer participate in tennis due to a shoulder injury….he doesn’t want to impair his ability to lift a glass or two!!
